Members of the UWU executive committee met recently and discussed a range of updates to internal policy and procedure. As the union grows, so does the need for robust processes and the committee is pleased to be moving further down the road of development.
Following the recent advert for our first UWU-employed member of staff, interviews are shortly to commence and the committee hopes to be able to make an appointment shortly. With a new worker in post, our existing plans will accelerate as our capacity increases significantly.
Two new recognition agreements are nearing completion following significant amounts of local organising and bargaining. Stay tuned for updates
The executive was delighted to receive positive feedback from the recent all-member meeting where members discussed the ongoing issue of workplace sexual harassment. Save the date: our next all-member meeting will be on 9 October at 18:00.
Finally, we are delighted to report that UWU President, Tracy Edwards has been invited to chair a cross-union fringe meeting at the upcoming TUC Conference on 9 September 17:45-19:15 Hilton Hotel:
“Trade unions as employers and the fight for solidarity and democracy: the rise of industrial action against racism, misogyny, and toxic power across the movement”
Please do get along to support - all welcome!
